Geography

This park takes its name from the freshwater reservoir that serves as its focal point, covering almost 10,000 acres at an elevation of approximately 4200 feet. Willard Bay was constructed in the 1950s to store overflow from the Ogden river and supply water to nearby farms.

Wildlife

Willard Bay is home to a sizable population of sport fishes, including walleye, smallmouth bass, channel catfish and bluegill. Marinas located at the north and south shores of the reservoir offer ample dock space for small watercraft, making the bay a popular destination for fishing. During the winter, American bald eagles flock to the protected regions of the park to nest in safety, providing spectacular opportunities to observe these impressive birds.

Recreation amenities

A total of 90 campsites are available on the eastern shore of the bay, featuring full-service showers and restrooms, beach cabanas, electrical hookups for RVs and boat slip rentals. Visitors enjoy fishing, hiking, nature photography, jetskiing and a host of other outdoor activities.
