Wasatch Mountain State Park

Many of Utah's state parks are still pretty close to their original wild state; the citizens do love getting back to nature, after all. An interesting exception is Wasatch Mountain State Park, which was heavily worked over to accommodate a wide range of leisure activities.

So much to do

Unlike many state parks where the amount of fun you have is based around your own imagination, Wasatch Mountain State Park is like a smorgasbord of things to do. Hiking, mountain biking and even golf are popular in the summer months, and snowmobiling and tubing draw crowds during the winter.

Golf courses

Wasatch Mountain State Park is host to not one but two public golf courses. The Wasatch Mountain course takes advantage of the rough terrain of the area, requiring players to hit from a variety of lies. The Wasatch Lake course is a little bit gentler, but several holes require careful shots from the tee to avoid the trees.

Snow fun

The snow falls thick and heavy on Wasatch Mountain State Park during the winter, making it a very popular destination for Utah residents. Trails are open for snowmobiling, and there is enough hillside that downhill skiing is also fun, and of course, many just opt to grab an inner tube and tear down slopes at breakneck speed.

Historical sites

There is even a little something here for history buffs; Huber Grove is a 100-year old apple orchard that features a historic farmhouse and dairy. The classic wooden Tate Barn was built in the 1890s and was painstakingly preserved.

A trip to Wasatch Mountain State Park is guaranteed to give you a good time. The entire family can find something fun to do there.
