Piute State Park

Quiet and secluded Piute State Park is located on the 3,360 acre Piute Reservoir, making it an ideal destination for the angler. Water sports, camping and off-road riding are other popular activities. The site is primitive, with only vault toilets and no running water, but its atmosphere is perfect for the nature lover looking for a quiet getaway.

Fishing

Small-mouth bass, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and brown trout are the most sought-after fish in the Piute Reservoir. Ice fishing is also popular, making this park a year-round fishing destination.

Other activities

Day visitors can enjoy a picnic on the beach and then go for a swim in the lake. Boating and related activities like water skiing, jet skiing and wakeboarding are also popular. Several activities on land are also available; for example, off-highway vehicle (OHV) and bike trails are nearby, including the Piute ATV Trail. This 278 mile-long trail crosses diverse terrain, from mountains to deserts, and has been named one of the best in the country. Primitive campsites make a multi-day trek on the trail possible, with a maximum allowable stay of 14 days.

Planning your visit

The park is located 12 miles south of Marysvale, Utah. It is open year-round, 24 hours a day, and there is a $5 day use fee that includes use of the boat ramp, with discounted multi-day passes available for longer visits. A $10 fee is charged for camping.

Though best known for trophy fishing, secluded Piute State Park offers many other activities as well. A visit can be as simple and relaxing as a picnic on the shore of Piute Reservoir, or as exciting as racing down the Piute ATV trail. Enjoy the park for a few hours or a few days.
